Ian Reader

The Religious Studies Project usually publishes a podcast (interview) every week. Last month (feb 2015) they published an extensive interview with Ian Reader.
Expect a discussion on Pilgrimage in the marketplace (2013) and certainly on pilgrimage in the Japanese tradition.

Everywhere on the world can become a sacred place.
Entertainment is always part of pilgrimage, often even playful.
'If a pilgrim is half a tourist, a tourist is half a pilgrim'.
I don't believe in the sacred.
The neurotic girls of Lourdes.
You don't have to travel to visit 'the sacred'.
Why one road survives, and others disappear.
The traditional and the secular.
